Lavender oil has antifungal and anti-bacterial properties; it helps soothe tired muscles and promotes a sense of calm and relaxation. It hastens the healing of burns and scars, as well as softening the skin. In aromatherapy, lavender is considered to be a balancing essence, meaning that it helps calm people who are feeling anxious or stressed; while helping to elevate the mood of people feeling depressed. Although lavender helps people to sleep better, it is a misconception that lavender causes sleepiness. It is the calming, relaxing action of lavender that aids sleep.

In the bathroom, add 2 or 3 drops of lavender oil to your bath, after filling it with warm water.
At bedtime, a single drop on the pillow helps many people sleep better.
In the home, if going away for any length of time and leaving your house closed up, place a few millilitres of essential oil on a saucer in a central area. On your return, you will find the lavender oil all evaporated, and because lavender kills mould spores, the house won’t smell musty.

Our Lavender Hydrosol has a very sweet lavender fragrance, that is also reminiscent of honey. Used as a skin toner, it gently softens and cleanses without irritation.
